Computer Input & Output Devices

Every computer needs a way to receive information and show results. These are handled by Input and Output devices.


🖱️ Input Devices

🔹 What are Input Devices?

Input devices are the hardware parts used to send data or instructions to the computer.

Common Input Devices:

  1. Keyboard

    • Used to type text, numbers, and commands.

    • Example: Writing a document in MS Word.

  2. Mouse

    • A pointing device used to move the cursor, click, and select.

  3. Scanner

    • Used to convert printed documents or photos into digital format.

  4. Microphone

    • Captures audio or voice input.

  5. Webcam

    • Used to capture live video or images (example: video calls).

  6. Touchscreen

    • Acts as both input and output; you can touch the screen to give commands (used in tablets and smartphones).

  7. Joystick/Game Controller

    • Used for gaming or navigation in specific applications.


🖥️ Output Devices

🔹 What are Output Devices?

Output devices display or produce the results after the computer processes the input.

Common Output Devices:

  1. Monitor (Display Screen)

    • Displays images, videos, and text.

    • Example: Viewing a video or reading a document.

  2. Printer

    • Produces hard copies of documents or images.

  3. Speakers

    • Output sound, music, or system alerts.

  4. Headphones

    • Personal audio output device.

  5. Projector

    • Displays the computer screen on a larger surface like a wall.
